We are Lachlan and Kate James and we are passionate about breeding high quality beef cattle. We choose Murray Greys as we believe they have the greatest ability to produce the ideal domestic beef carcase and we enjoy working with them. We are excited by the challenge of making breeding decisions for the long term and want to use our abilities to make a difference in our clients' beef businesses. 

We have both studied Rural Science at UNE Armidale with Lachlan specialising in Meat Science and Kate specialising in Genetics. At different times we were both involved in Meat Judging teams for Australia (Kate) and in the USA (Lachlan at Colorado State University). We have both judged beef cattle at local shows and Lachlan has judged beef cattle at Royal Shows.

Wallawong Murray Grey stud was founded in 1990. Since the original female purchase we have increased our stud breeding herd to 95 cows. Our female herd is run on pasture 365 days of the year. Females must calve annually to remain in the herd.

The cattle are run on two properties, Marriot Park and Wilberoi, located in the Curlewis/Boggabri area of NSW.

We have conducted our annual bull sale in July for 12 years and will catalogue 19 Breedplan recorded bulls, 15 registered females, and a pen of 8 commercial PTIC females for our 2010 (8 July) on- property sale event at Marriot Park, Gunnedah.

We exhibit regularly in steer and carcase competitions, always being placed highly, including being a member of the 2008 Brisbane Royal Ken McDonald Shield team, and being awarded the 2001 RAS Reserve Champion Lightweight Carcase.

We are committed to our job as seedstock producers. We regularly travel interstate to inspect potential AI sires and secure the best genetics. We take the time to research the many sires available and take opportunities when they arise.
