AI Sires
We firmly believe that the use of a well considered AI program is essential for providing genetic gain, specific matings and Breedplan linkages. Approximately 1/3 to 1/2 of the breeding females are AI'd annually. Although we have used many AI sires over the years, those used recently are shown below.
Lindsay Starbright S117 (LSY S117)
Starbright was purchased in 2005. He was a colossal bull displaying exceptional thickness and muscularity. His EMA EBV is the 7th highest sire in the history of Murray Greys. His calves have sold to $13,000 and semen has been exported to Canada and America. We continue to be impressed with Starbright's progeny. They have calved easily and exhibited excellent growth and muscle content. To date his 16 Wallawong bull progeny have sold to $7,500 and averaged $5031 (total clearance at auction). Since his death in 2007, we have contined to use semen to further his bloodlines within the herd. Semen available for sale. More Information and photographs click here
Monterey Sensational (GJB Y17)
Sensational was used in our 2008 AI program. He is a very correct bull who produces very uniform progeny. We inspected sensational as a yearling and again as a 5 year old. Both times we were very impressed with him and look forward to calves in 2009. More Information and photographs click here
Lindsay West (LSY W13)
West is a massive, well muscled, powerful bull. He is one of the best mature sons of Starbright S117 that we have seen. He has been used in our AI program in 2007 and 2008. His calves are similar in type to Starbright S117 offspring, being growthy and well muscled. A select number of yearling offspring will be available at our annual sale. Monterey Starlight (GJB R39)
Starlight is one of the true super sires of the breed. He has been used
extensively throughout Australia and his progeny have excelled in both
the show ring and the sale ring. He was a functional bull with an
exceptional hindquarter and above average performance data. He combines
growth with sound carcase EBVs and positive fat EBVs.
Lindsay Starbright Y47 (LSY Y47)
We viewed Y47 in 2005 and found him to be a large, structurally correct sire that possessed an impressive side profile. He is a sound son of Starbright S117, who is combining growth and a large EMA with the ability to lay down fat easily. More Information and photographs click here
